Design-Bid-Build (DBB) is the most traditional project delivery method in construction. The project’s contracts are broken down into distinct phases as suggested by the title. The initial design phase entails the creation of all construction plans and documents by a chosen architect. The project design and scope are put out to bid, at which point Allegheny will determine if the project is a potential fit either in the role of General Contractor or Subcontractor. Allegheny’s estimating team then uses all available project documentation combined with past experience to develop a construction estimate. The estimating team takes a look at everything the project would entail- including allocation of company resources, staffing, site logistics, work schedule, and so much more. This in-depth review prepares Allegheny for our project role, enabling our work to run full speed ahead once we receive Notice to Proceed.
